Biography
Julie has been involved in the promotion and commercial development of Underground Coal Gasification technology since 2003 and joined the UCG Association full time in 2007.
She has over thirty years experience in both Marketing and business development across a wide range of industries; Finance, Accountancy, Oil and Gas, Pharmaceuticals, Health Care, Microbiology.
Prior to joining UCGA Julie worked in the City advising niche companies seeking investment for either start up or expansion purposes. It was during this period, in 2002 she was introduced to the UCG process and the Australian Chinchilla project, since then Julie has been an active supporter and promoter of UCG technology.
Julie actively promotes the work of the UCGA and the commercial and industrial benefits potential of UCG/CCS Technology globally and is highly regarded within the industry as one of UCG’s leading exponents. Her role at UCGA is extremely varied and includes full responsibility for the daily operations, external relationships, Training Courses, Membership and Global Expansion. She organises all the global UCGA events, including Conferences, Tutorials, Workshops and Training Courses. She is the UCGA EU representative and sits on the EU Coal Working Groups for SA, India and China and has recently joined the UN Expert Group on Resource Classification.
Her unique position within the UCG community enables her to engage with industry, academia, research, governments, regulators, NGO’s, energy associations, finance and the media. She is active in encouraging and initiating positive dialogue and outreach programmes with the public and outside agencies, including environmental groups to appreciate the need for Clean Coal technologies.
She has authored many leading articles and is regularly invited to present on UCG all around the world, most recently in London, Vienna, Brussels, USA, South Africa, Australia and India.
Particular areas of interest include the need for dedicated and industry recognised UCG training, collaborative research, regulatory frameworks the formation of a recognised industry best practice and public perceptions of UCG.
