Head of Gas Market Design , RWE Supply & Trading

Biography

Mr Rose has spent 20 years working in competitive energy markets,14 years of which have been spent working in the area of gas market design and regulation, both from a retail and wholesale perspective.

In the last two years, as Head of Gas Market Design for RWE Supply & Trading, his work has been focussed on European wholesale gas markets, assessing how they will be impacted and how they can be enhanced by the obligations contained in the 3rd Energy Package and the Gas Security of Supply Regulation. He has actively participated in the ongoing development of EU wide Capacity Allocation, Congestion Management and Balancing arrangements, and was a member of the ad-hoc expert group advising ERGEG on the Framework Guideline for Balancing. He has also closely followed the development of the Gas Target Model.

Mr Rose regularly attends and is an enthusiatic contributor to EFET’s Gas Committee, along with a number of its regional and functional sub groups, such as Task Force Italy and Task Force Central and Eastern European Gas.

He has also spent over two years working in Eurlectric’s Gas Working Group, and has recently been nominated to Chair this group for the next 3 years.

RWE Supply & Trading is a large international energy trading company with interests in most of the major European energy markets, including gas production, cross-border gas pipelines, storage and LNG importation. As its representative Mr Rose continually seeks to promote and encourage the development of liquid wholesale gas markets throughout Europe, where trading takes place between multiple counterparties efficiently, and with high levels of integrity and transparency.
