Barrister, Burges Salmon

Biography

William Wilson, Barrister, Burges Salmon LLP, has 20 years experience of specialist environmental and energy law, both a a senior government lawyer with the Department of the Environment/DETR/Defra, and for the last 10 years in private practice and environmental policy consultancy. He has been the legal manager of key UK environmental legislation, has participated in the negotiation and implementation of EU legislation such as the Water Framework Directive, Euratom legislation and the REACH chemicals Regulation, and advises clients on a range of regulatory issues from water law, air quality, industrial emissions, nuclear law, chemicals regulation, sustainability and product stewardship.

He is the author of Making Environmental Laws Work: Law and Policy in the UK and USA (Hart 1999) based on a Harkness Fellowship in the US, co-author of William Robert Grove: the Lawyer Who Invented the Fuel Cell (Metolius 2007) and a contributor to the Burges Salmon Guide to Nuclear Law and the Burges Salmon Environmental Law Handbook (Burges Salmon 2011).
